Got up to the Timber Headwall Chute or THC the other day for the first headwall lines of the season. Check out the Photo from Kyle Hamilton.
The skys cleared today and we could see the mountains for the first time in more than a week. They sure have been blasted with snow. It looks great!
Up on the mountain were some really big slides. Apparently the one in Lizard bowl released naturally at 10AM the other day. It ran from the headwall all the way to the flats at the bottom of lizard. Very Wide. This is why you weren't allowed to ski in Lizard Bowl the past few days folks.
Then over in Currie Bowl there was a slide that ran from the top of Polar Peak all the way down currie powder to the flats below trespass trail. Also huge!
So if your heading out in the backcountry. Be careful!
Skiing all over the mountain was great. Fresh pow lines, sweet chopped powder and beautiful blue skys.

Today was the first real powder day at Fernie. 17CM were reported at 9AM this morning, and it skied even deeper than that. Really light dry fluffy powder billowed over the shoulders nearly everywhere on the mountain. Awesome! This is what we have been waiting for.
AND, its STILL snowing. Has been all day. I think they are forecasting 1-3 cm. But thats what they forecast last night and it turned into 17. Hopefully we get even more than that. Sunday could be epic!
